WYFP is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and share advice, pootie pictures, favorite adult beverages, and anything else that we think might help. Everyone and all sorts of troubles are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
Been trying to manage time but so much is getting in the way yet one hopes that some kind of counsel or self-help can improve a waking life that seems no different than one's dreams where one is trying to get somewhere but one can't get there. So for me the choice is either to embrace the
Luis Bunuel aspect of my daily life or that
Time Management Training doesn't work and that I should prioritize my waking hours in the future around achieving these three objectives:
Clarity around role priorities rather than specific task priorities.
Attention management skills rather than “time management” skills.
A comprehensive workflow management system.
It's not about ageism but more about trying to get past some
cognitive biases that play out in any professional job-seeking culture. I learned how much I dislike bosses in my last job especially when I am more experienced and skilled (as well as working in the South) but that is my unwillingness to use old age and treachery to always beat youth and exuberance.
More whinging below the fold...
In the words of biographer Ruth Brandon, Buñuel and his family "lived from one unsatisfactory crumb of work to another" because he "had none of the arrogance and pushiness essential for survival in Hollywood."He just wasn't flamboyant enough to capture the attention of Hollywood decision makers, in the opinion of film composer George Antheil: "Inasmuch as [Buñuel], his wife and his little boy seemed to be such absolutely normal, solid persons, as totally un-Surrealist in the Dalí tradition as one could possibly imagine." For the most part, he was snubbed by many of the people in the film community whom he met during his first trip to America, although he was able to sell some gags to Chaplin for his film The Great Dictator.
the gags that should have been sold to my recent bosses
So finding a job's my problem (among so many other FPs) - what's your problem this week?
