I believe it is wrong to leave any candidate out of the Presidential or any debate. It is disrespectful to them, the people, not just their followers but all the people who do not get a chance to hear their ideas. It is a break with our idea of democracy.
Yes this diary is in response to seeing a report about what is happening with the GOP candidates. But I remember back to 2008 when Mike Gravel was left out of the Democratic party debates. It was silly, he was just one more guy.
Former RNC chairman Michael Steel has the best idea. He said, have the debates over two nights and draw straws so that there is not a first and second tier debate and do this for the first debate.
I think they should do it that way until the field is small enough to all debate on one stage.
Can you imagine if the democrats had a few more candidates jump in and suddenly Sanders numbers when down to the point where he was excluded? That would be horrible. We don't know what is going to happen. Clinton could take some points from him, so could O'Mallley or someone else. There might be a few more people.... I doubt it,, but you never know.
Or O'Malley could be left out, or Chaffee, or Clinton........
I think everyone deserves to be heard. I include local elections in this. It's not like we have to much democracy.
