This is a brief photo diary of the delivery to the VA Hospital in Detroit of quilts, knitted/crocheted hats and scarves, as well as Teddy Bears and cards.
Norm's Quilt for the VA Hospital
NormAl1792 left for NN14 July 17th early in the morning. We packed up all 42 quilts and 93 hats and scarves. Here is Shiner helping us hold down one of the boxes of the quilts.
Even though he was driving a Prius, everything got packed into it.
I was supposed to go as well, but one of our kitties came down with an aggressive upper respiratory infection a couple of days before we were going to leave. The vet said it could take up to 2 weeks for her to get better. She would be fine so long as she didn't take a turn for the worse which would mean the infection moved to her lungs. In that case, she would need to come in right away. So we couldn't leave her for 4 days in case she did turn worse. She also really wanted to cuddle a lot as she was miserable.
Back to NN14. One more quilt arrived at the convention (from someone whose name we didn't record). In addition 5 hats/scarves also were brought (from jlms qkw). Giving us a total of 98 hats and scarves and 43 quilts. On Thursday there was a display of the quilts, hats, scarves and Teddy Bears.
On Friday NormAl, Sara, and MsSpentyouth delivered the quilts, hats, scarves, bears, and handmade cards to the Detroit VA Hospital.
Here is the photo of all three of them with the VA Hospital Director who was very pleased and appreciative of everyone's efforts.
I want to thank everyone who contributed time and talent to make this work. Everyone involved should feel very proud of their work and their commitment to helping veterans.
